Sporting hat-trick for Wessex Vale Crematorium

Wessex Vale Crematorium has scored a hat-trick by ensuring three local sports teams can step out in style when their new seasons start.

The Hampshire crematorium has sponsored Trojans Rugby Football Club, Eastleigh Rugby Football Club and Hedge End Rangers Football Club.

The crematorium is sponsoring training shirts and kit bags for the two rugby clubs for the 2022/23 season.

For the football club, the crematorium is providing sponsorship for the next two seasons, covering home and away kits for the Under-15s, plus training fleeces.

The crematorium is also supplying the club’s soccer centre with 100 kits which can be offered free to children when they sign on, whereas they usually have to pay for their kits.

Wessex Vale Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, the UK’s largest independent owner and operator of crematoria and cemeteries, with 37 sites in England, Scotland and Wales, all set within beautifully-landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.

The sponsorship money comes from the crematorium’s metal recycling scheme.

With the consent of families, metals recovered during cremation are recycled and any money raised is used to support charities and other worthy causes in the communities surrounding every crematorium and cemetery which are part of Westerleigh Group.

Lisa Johnson, Regional Support Manager at Wessex Vale Crematorium, said: “Like all Westerleigh Group’s crematoria, we are passionate about being a good neighbour and having a positive presence in our local communities.

“The sports clubs also make a very positive contribution to local communities, helping to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of people, which is why we are proud to be able to play our part in supporting what they do.

“The clubs have teams for males and females of all ages, from children to veterans, and we wish them all the very best for their new seasons. We’ll watch their progress with interest.

“Of course, if Trojans and Eastleigh rugby clubs play against each other, we will have to stay neutral, and perhaps for us, a draw would be the best result on that occasion.

“But hopefully all the players will feel like winners in their new kits which we are sponsoring.”
