Wessex Vale Crematorium opens its doors to everyone

Wessex Vale Crematorium is inviting members of its local community to take a tour of its site at an open day on Saturday 21 May.

The event will run between 10am and 2pm and will give people the chance to take a tour of the site and its fantastic facilities, including the chapel and crematory room.

Wessex Vale Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, the UK’s largest independent owner and operator of crematoria and cemeteries, with 37 sites in England, Scotland and Wales, all set within beautifully-landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.

The open day is another way in which the team at the crematorium want to maintain close links with their community.

Lisa Johnson, Regional Support Manager at Wessex Vale Crematorium, said: “People will be able to come and meet our friendly and supportive team and learn about the wide range of work we do in the local community and the support we give to many local charities and organisations.

“The open day also presents an opportunity for people to ask any questions they may have about the crematorium and for staff to dispel any myths people may have.

“There will also be plenty of time for people to explore our site and take time to pause and reflect, too. No appointment is necessary for the open day, and we very much look forward to welcoming local families to our lovely grounds.

“They will also be able to visit our Covid-19 memorial, which opened last year, in honour of those who died during the pandemic. It’s also a place where people can remember, reflect on, and pay tribute to NHS key workers and whole communities who pulled together during the crisis.”

Wessex Vale Crematorium opened in December 2009 to serve the communities in and around Eastleigh Borough.

The beautifully-landscaped grounds feature a peaceful memorial garden for quiet reflection and a welcoming chapel building.
