School’s SEND provision boosted by donation from crematorium

A Southampton school’s Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision has been boosted thanks to a £5,000 donation from Wessex Vale Crematorium.

The donation to Harefield Primary School was made from proceeds from the crematorium’s metal recycling fund.

Westerleigh Group’s Head of Division Matthew Brook, Wessex Vale Crematorium’s Manager Sarah Barrett and local funeral director Jonathan Terry recently visited the school to present staff with a cheque.

Matthew said: “The donation was made to support the development of the school’s SEND room.

“It was a real privilege for the three of us to visit the school to see for ourselves some of the fantastic work being undertaken by the team there.

“It’s a privilege to be able to support the school with this donation, which we know will be put to extremely good use for the benefit of local children and their families.
